Lijiang or the “Li” river flows thru the Guangxi province of China, is reknowned for its scenic view.
Lijiang is flanked by unique Karst landscape and veiled all year round in mist, which makes the journey down the river, breathtakingly surreal!
It takes around 5 hours to cruise along the pictureque Lijiang during dry season, from Mopangshan to Yangshuo. The ever changing view of its banks keeps the long journey alive!
Lijiang, not only nourishes the land it passes thru but also feeds the inhabitants along its banks. The inhabitants that depend on the catches from within the river (fishermen) is called the “Lijiang” people, tradintionally. Now, myriad of new ‘Lijiang’ people has emerged and thier livelihood is no more dependant on the catches in the river but catches that float along the river.
River traders, rafter or performers are a more common sight than tranditional ‘Lijiang’ people, preying on loads of tourist that flocked the used-to-be tranquil river.
